| Immerwährende Neutralität | Permanent neutrality — in force in Switzerland since 1815. |
| Komitee | Initiative committee — group of citizens who launch and promote a popular initiative. |
| Stände-/Volksmehr | Double majority — majority of voters and cantons required for a constitutional initiative. |
| Volksinitiative | Direct democracy instrument: 100,000 signatures in 18 months trigger a popular vote. |
