This glossary explains the key technical terms and abbreviations used in this chapter.

Abbreviation / Term	Explanation
AESA	Active Electronically Scanned Array — radar with electronically steered beam.
DAS	Distributed Aperture System — six infrared cameras providing 360° spherical coverage.
F135	F-35 engine manufactured by Pratt & Whitney. Single-engine design.
MADL	Multifunction Advanced Data Link — secure, stealth data link between F-35 aircraft.
ODIN	Operational Data Integrated Network — cloud-based maintenance system (successor to ALIS).
Sensorfusion	Automatic fusion of data from radar, DAS, EOTS and electronic warfare systems.
TR-3	Technology Refresh 3 — hardware upgrade of the F-35. Prerequisite for Block 4.
